GF Grillers© for Manufacturers

Manufacturers of gluten-free foods and health products are subject to comprehensive labelling regulations concerning the top allergens.

Many are now making specific assurances in regards to gluten and take pride in sharing information on the measures they have undertaken to ensure that their products are safe for those adhering to a gluten-free diet. If you would like to contact a manufacturer to confirm that a product is suitable to your needs here are some suggestions that will help you start a dialogue.

GF Grillers© for Cross Contamination

Dedicated bakeries, pizza and coffee shops are what gluten-free dreams are made of. The reality is that many of our favourite eating places do their best to serve us in the swirl of regular operations. Good communication with the kitchen staff can provide you with a measure of confidence, if not a guarantee. Take along this (mental) checklist, even if you have partaken before, and make the best decision for yourself.*

*Don't go with your gut! Making choices based on whether your body is "OK with it" is not good enough. Consequences of inadvertent gluten ingestion can still occur at the microscopic level even in the absence of obvious outward signs.

Help for Hospital Stays

Being admitted to the hospital can be a frightening experience, especially for those with celiac disease or other gluten intolerances. Whether you are there for a day-surgery or for three weeks in rehabilitation, the hospital should be doing everything they can to meet the needs of your specific gluten-free diet. Share this information with your family and your health care providers (Dietitian, Pharmacist, Physicians) to ensure the best possible care while you are staying at the hospital.
